Goat week kicked off a bigger theme of Animals on the Farm. We'll be making a Farm Book and maybe a mural to go along with the next few weeks.
In Bible we talked about Jesus dying for our sins and that a long time ago goats, sheep and other animals were given to God when people sinned. She made a goat necklace (badge) to wear for the week.
We made goats out of the letter G and I thought they looked pretty cute. Ken couldn't see how the letter looked like a goat. :)
This is the goat page that will go in Caroline's farm book. She paper pieced the little goat and added a few of the facts that we had gathered over the week. My favorite tidbit from this lesson was learning that goats usually have twins. The little ones were excited to tell me that mommy is just like a goat. :)
She also made a little goat toilet paper roll craft which she photographed herself. I found it here. We also did a baby animals matching game which the twins really enjoyed.
We've been working on Spell to Write and Read. She does all of her spelling work in cursive and I have seen her improve so much. She practices her cursive in the salt box a few times per week and I think it's really helped.
Here are the books we enjoyed this week:
A Girl, A Goat and A Goose by David McPhail
Farm Animals by Scholastic
Beatrice's Goat by Page McBrier (great book)
Oh Look by Patricia Polacco
Gordon the Goat by Munro Leaf
Bill Grogan's Goat by MaryAnn Hoberman
Born in a Barn, Farm Animals and Their Young by E. Gemming
G is for Goat by Patricia Polacco

I love the glass jewels on the wooden popsicle sticks, I'm going to have to add that to our stash.
Also, love the sand writing box, I've been meaning to do that for so long now! I think you inspired me to add a couple new things. I've been slacking since the year's getting almost done! LOL!
