Day 345 - homeschool open house

It was Family Night for our homeschool co-op.  The students had their work on display and a few of the classes, like Caroline's, were going to present on stage.  The auditorium was filled with people and I was a little nervous to go up in front of the audience.  I had to since I was an assistant in her class and needed to help.

When it was our turn Caroline and I went up to the stage.  I was helping the children line up when I heard some crying or faint whimpering.  I didn't think twice until I heard a very loud, piercing, "I WANT MOMMY!" It got louder and screechier and even doubled, as only twins can do.  Everyone stopped and looked over at hysterical Courtney and Claire.  Ken stood there not knowing what to do and I had to run back (with 50 homeschool families in the room watching) and try to calm them.  Nothing worked.  I wanted to crawl under a chair but unfortunately they were waiting for me up on stage and I had to make this work.  I convinced them to come to the front with me.  The crying got softer and they were finally able to start the music and the performance.  I wasn't able to help because the twins held onto me for dear life and I feared they would scream if I moved.   I guess it wouldn't have mattered, I was already mortified.
