Day 295 - keeping bedtime routines
I used to be much better at keeping our bedtime reading routine. As they've gotten older and read on their own I've noticed how I've been letting that time slip away. The day is so busy that by the time I get them to bed I'm eager to get everything else done so I can go to bed too. Big mistake! I'll never get that time back and I'll always have more to do. I'm being purposeful about our reading time together and don't want to let this time slip away again.

This is a sweet picture. I know exactly what you mean by bedtime routines. So far Hanna is the only independent reader I have, and I don't read to her at bedtime anymore, but I really make an effort to lay with her for a bit each night and just talk. You are so right, it is time that we will never get back and should definitely be cherished.
So sweet... my husband has always done bed time and the kids love it.
I really needed to hear that. I haven't been great about routinely reading either, for the same exact reasons. You are so right. We can never get this time back and I do need to be deliberate with reading. Pray for me! For some reason, this is a huge shortcoming for me.
Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom and your very adorable picture!
