our january days so far

We've had some cold January days so far.  The girls keep thinking it's about to snow and I barely want to go outside.   I love snuggling by the fire with the girls,  a good book and some tea but I'm basically ready for summer.

We've had a few changes already this year, some good and some sad.  The good news is that Ken started his new job.  He no longer leaves the house at 4:30 in the morning which is great for him.  So we've just been adjusting to new routines and learning to be quiet when he is working from home.  That's been interesting!

The sad change is that a dear friend of ours will be moving.  She has been such a constant in our lives and all of us will miss her terribly.  I learned so much from her and truly appreciated our friendship.   I'm really sad.

As for Project Life.....
I'm changing my approach.  I will not be posting the 'picture of the day' anymore.  I'm going to post some favorites and see how it goes.  I have my Project Life album and am working directly on that.  Doing al the journaling on the blog and the album was taking too much time and I kept falling behind.  I love the album and how I can include so much in it.  Becky Higgins has some great links and ideas on her site.  There are so many creative ways to approach this project and her blog is very inspiring.

Here are some highlights from our January days so far.

Preschool with Courtney and Claire --- pretending to be Katy No Pocket (the kangaroo).

This is how Ken reacts when he wins at Zingo.

Daddy reading 'Cinderella' to his princesses.

Calista and I went to the Sewing Bee at the library.  We learned how to make pillow case dresses to distribute to children around the world.  This was through the Dress a Girl Around the World.  Calista buddied up with the ladies who really knew how to sew and got to work.

The usual baking photo......chewy granola bars.

As a special Christmas gift from relatives,  the girls are all in gymnastics for the rest of the winter and some of the spring months.  It's a great activity for them and we're all very excited about it.

A fun play-date with our friends :)
