Day 271 - letting go

It's not easy for me to let go of the clothing the girls outgrow; especially the pieces that all four girls have worn.  Our local twins group has a sale twice a year and not once have I sold the girls' clothing and gear.  I've loaned clothing to family but I haven't given up much for good.  This year I decided to really push myself to go through the tubs and tag the clothing for the upcoming sale.  The hope is that we'll make enough money to then enroll the girls in some lessons.  I needed to do this for them so I was motivated.

I was fine until I opened the box with the 0-3 months baby clothing.  Oh my goodness!  The clothing still had the baby smell and each piece held such sweet memories.  Yes, there were not so sweet memories of being up all night too but that's so easy to forget.   It really was much harder than I had imagined.   Ken, as sweet as he is, was so sensitive to the tears and even suggested that we cancel the whole plan if it was that upsetting.  Awww :)  Well, I kept sorting, kept tagging and even though I kept (way) more than I had originally planned, we still have quite a bit to sell.  It may not pay for the entire year's worth of lessons but hopefully enough to make it to the spring sale.

I know this was hard for you Isabel. I've been thinking about you a lot these past two weeks, wondering how this went.

It's amazing how just one little thing like a piece of clothing brings so, so many memories to the surface.

I will be looking to see what changes you have coming to your blog too.

Good luck with all that you do, and I hope you get more than enough money to help with lessons for your girls!

Prayers and sincere warm thoughts from me to you.

It's so hard for me to part with things too. One thing that really helps me is knowing that someone else will be able to enjoy and create their own memories with it. And you're helping them to save money on really great items! :)

Based on the picture, I'd say you're doing really well with parting with things. You money is going to a great cause. I want to enroll my kids in lessons too, but it's not in the budget yet. Let us know how the sale goes!

Your girls are so beautiful! I love seeing your project 365 pics and am thinking of doing that myself. I am giving you The Versatile Blogger Award.

I went thru this last year, it was TOUGH to get rid of those itty bitty baby things! I had a tote for each 3 mo the first year (newborn, 0-3, 3-6 etc)...I got rid of most EVERYTHING, though I DID keep a small tote of my favorite 0-12mo things =)
