Last week at Heart of the Matter it was
School Room week. It's one of my favorites because I could spend hours looking at everyone's school rooms. Head on over to Heart of the Matter and check out their School Room Week. This week it's
Student Photo Week. I'm just running a little behind! Here is our school room:
Our school room happens to be the first room you see upon entering our house. I use to worry about that but it's the only room that works (our living room) so it had to be that way. We school mostly in this room but also use the family room for read-aloud. This is the main teaching area and then there are two tables where the girls do their work.

This is one of the Preschool areas. I keep their trays and Preschool Board (
RRSP) here. They take their trays and work either on the floor or at one of the tables. This first week I'm only doing part of their preschool program. I'll start Before Five in a Row in another week. I wanted to ease into it with them and with myself, actually. The curriculum load feels more intense this year so I wanted to see how it all worked together before adding more.
The girls keep their notebooks and books here. I also keep a few of my teacher manuals on this shelf as well. The baskets help as we shuffle from one subject to another. My poor pantry looked a lot better before we started homeschooling. I've taken just about every basket out now.
The school room in action :)
Around the corner we set up a little listening center which tends to be a favorite spot.

This photo give a better overall view of what the room looks like. Off to the left is a dining room table where Calista does most of her work.
That's our schoolroom! The only thing I didn't show was the row of baskets under the window (to the right). We're hoping to get more bookshelves one day but for now the baskets work. Whatever doesn't fit goes in the garage on the big bookshelf.

Your school room is just beautiful and very well organized. I love that comfy looking chair, it would be my favorite spot.
Looks like a great set up! Homeschoolers never have enough bookshelves, do we?
Love all the space. Can't wait til we have our own house w/a school space! My oldest was looking at the pics with me and he kept commenting on how much he liked their school room. :) .... and the worm post
