Every year we look forward to our week away at the beach. Ken's family has a house there and we absolutely adore spending time there. This year, we have all agreed, was the best one yet.
Like many people, our life at home is just so crazy-busy. I don't want it to be that way but that's what it is right now. There is something happening most every day of the week and weekends and we just don't have the family time like we used to. This vacation made that even more apparent to me.
We had days of uninterrupted time to talk, cuddle, play games, laugh, go on walks and just be together. It makes such a difference when there is no schedule, no plan, no demands. The kids had 'all" of us; no distractions. We especially appreciated the time with Ken. He is the busiest one in the house!
Ken made some amazing sand forts for the girls. He'd go out onto the beach almost 2 hours ahead of us and start digging. Lucky girls!
It's hard to tell from the photos but down below it's about 5 feet deep and he carved out ledges for little tables and seats so they could play house in there. He guarded it like a hawk for them and would hardly let any other kids (boys) play in there with them. Here is another view of the fort.
I had to include this next picture because it made me laugh. Claire and Caroline playing frisbee....do you see the frisbee and the direction Claire is running. Hee hee :)

This was the morning we left. We took one final walk to say 'goodbye' to our little beach town.
We LOVED our vacation! It was hard to leave this time. We're hoping to make a few more weekend trips over the next year but we said that last year and it never happened. I'm so grateful for our time there and the special memories the girls will have of our family vacations.
