When we moved here a few years ago things were a bit crazy. Ken was starting a new job, the twins were still babies and we barely slept. We had moved so often since being married that some boxes were still packed and labeled from the first move in 2003. I remember that whatever didn't fit or belong anywhere else, we crammed into our master bedroom. Our room had more space and we knew that we could easily close the door on the clutter and tackle it when we had more time. Here we are almost 3 years later and instead of clearing it out I've managed to only add more. Our bedroom stores the normal bedroomy stuff plus homeschool books, office stuff, years of memorabilia, girls' clothes, extra blankets, extra furniture, toys and more books. I feel tense even describing it!
A friend of mine (Anne) gave me a great book called The House That Cleans Itself by Mindy Starns Clark and it's motivated me to get the clutter out of my room. I'm about halfway through the book now and have started the first few steps. I've removed everything that doesn't belong out of our bedroom. It already feels so much better. The garage, on the other hand, is now filled with stuff I need to sort through. I've already filled a few garbage and donation bags but I have many more to go. The goal is to complete our bedroom, the craft room and the kitchen before school starts.

I admire your courage! I need to do the same to my closet. But I'm afraid to face it! :)
Good for you! I too struggle with clutter but I don't have any excuses for it. It somehow just accumulates overnight and then suddenly, we have stuff all over! Our dumping ground right now is our office/classroom. It has two generous closets in it that are filled up. One holds some kitchen stuff like Pampered Chef stones, tablecloths, party bowls, ice cream maker, punch bowl, etc. The other is all school & office supplies & materials. I may get this book you're reading and read through it myself. A clutter-free home equals a clutter-free mind... Clutter = Chaos, Order = Peace. (Just read that on another blog.)
Be sure to take pictures when you're done so we can see your progress!
