It's change of season time for the clothing tubs. Twice a year our hallway is lined with these tubs for a few days as I move things around. This year is a little different. I started this process 2 weeks ago and they're still out. I can't seem to get this job done very efficiently this year.
I actually need more tubs and that can only mean one thing....I'm not getting rid of much. I still have a lot of the girls' baby and toddler clothing in tubs because I can't imagine parting with any of them. I haven't kept everything but definitely too much. I can just look at a little dress and remember that moment perfectly. I know it sounds crazy but it would really bring me to tears if I had to let it all go. My plan is to one day make each girl a blanket or quilt with pieces from their special outfits. Unfortunately, I still need to learn how to sew.

I'm with you... that job takes forever and figuring out what I'm OK to part with is never easy.
Not totally random but I've wanted to learn to sew for forever.
I finally decided the time is now :)
Between a really good book, youtube videos, and blogs with tutorials, I'm actually learning and doing it!
On the clothing note... it is hard to get rid of stuff so if there is something special but not too special, I take a picture of them in it and at least I have that.
It is nice to donate clothes to people we know-- it's fun to see our clothes "walking around" on other people's children :)
You are already making photo albums that will definitely bring back memories to you and to your kids. Your journals even include stories about their daily undertakings. That, I think, is far better to keep than anything else! :)
I do understand how you feel. It took me a long time to part with a lot of my kids' baby clothes. In fact I have a tightly packed small box in our attic that contains my (not theirs) favorite of their baby clothes. There was a time (which I still rebel against with sometimes) when Tim said that whenever I buy something new (not just clothes) I have to give the same number of pieces away. We're training our kids to do the same. Books are the things that they love to keep...but now they regularly put stuff in a give-away box. This box eventually gets sorted into: send to the Philippines; give to the library; or Goodwill. Someone else might need them.
I like your seasonal clothing rotation! A sign of an organized person! :)
