We don't go to restaurants often. Actually, the only time we really go is when the grandparents are in town and they take us to Chili's. That's always a treat for the girls and what they always talk about when we pass by Chili's.
Well, tonight was supposed to be a date night for Ken and I but the childcare didn't work out. We decided to make it a family date night and went to Mimi's. It always sounds fun at first but once we're there I'm just trying to keep everyone calm and somewhat quiet. Dinner at our house is loud and I worry that we'll be too loud at a restaurant. I spend the first 20 minutes at the table trying to get everyone situated, coloring, not bickering, quiet, selecting a dinner etc. and then I'm wondering why we even came. It's so much easier at home! At this point the waitress is only waiting for me to order and I haven't even looked at my menu. This is about the time that Ken looks at me and says, "Isn't this SO much fun?"
I obviously need to relax a little.

This is funny! God made couples to complement each other, don't you agree? You are so worried about the details and Ken, oblivious of your concerns, just enjoys the fact that you don't have to make dinner nor do the dishes later on. :) The experience is more important to them (husbands in general)than making everything perfect.
You're so right Helen. It's easier to laugh about it now then it was on Saturday night. :)
I am not a big fan of eatting out with the kids - manners are never in check even though we know they have them when we go to other peoples homes. I almost always wanna crawl under the table and hide. I think my hubby gives me the same look when we go out with just two boys!
