Day 55 - mommy's birthday

What makes it fun now is the girls' excitement.  I love the homemade cards and gifts and just seeing their little faces when I open their treasures.

It was a strange night though because while we were at the counter making the brownies (my birthday cake of choice), Claire fell off her chair.  I turned my back for one second and she decided to climb up onto the counter alone.  Well, she slipped and fell on her face and hands.  I stayed calm on the outside (somewhat) but was certain we'd be going to the emergency room.   It was just a a cut lip in the end but it just broke my heart.  She cried and whimpered the rest of the evening and wouldn't leave my lap through dinner and dessert.   Dinner was crazy (and cold) and the rest of the night was a little off kilter.   I was so ready for bed by the time I put them down.  Ken is going to take me out to dinner to celebrate next weekend.

Oh, and the candles are supposed to be in the shape of the letter "I".

Hope you and Ken had a romantic dinner!!! Sometimes our plans don't come out the way we intend...but Claire and her sisters surely learned something that night. I'm pretty sure that the next birthdays in your home will never involve someone falling off a chair again! :)

Poor Claire, poor you. Happy she wasn't hurt too badly and happy Ken is taking you out on date. :)

Bless your heart. I know how you feel on all counts--being excited because of their excitement more so than your own--that's what birthdays are all about for me now too. I also know how you feel about Claire getting hurt, the worry that always comes along with that, the cold dinners:-) and being ready for bed when they are.

I hope you have a nice dinner out with your husband!

The candles are sweet.
