No laughing at my Octopus drawing! I just copied it from the worksheet I found online :) I used it in the beginning of each lesson to introduce new facts about the Octopus. Caroline added the labels to her own Octopus drawing after the lesson. By the end of the week the poor little guy was colored all purple and pink thanks to Courtney and Claire. Perfect camouflage for such a girly house.
Handprint Octopus was a hit! We have them hanging everywhere now.
Painting the background for the ocean mural. I didn't have large paper so they each finger painted their own panel and we taped them together.
We had gone to the aquarium at the beginning of the year which tied in perfectly with these lessons. They were very interested in the different types of sea creatures and wanted to add them to their mural. The last book on the list below was really helpful and they were intrigued with the camouflage concept Below is a section of our ocean mural.

Oh how cute!!
Inspiring! Really...I looked and saw that we will be doing Octopus next and the pessimist in me said, "That's not gonna be fun... an octupus!" I know, shame on me. I need to see the beauty in all God's creaturs. ;) So, I see the fun it can be and I LOVE the handprint octopi (sp?). Thanks for posting!
That's how I felt about the dinosaur lessons! Know what you mean. I forgot to mention in the post that they loved the words to remember! They waved their arms and legs around saying "Even the octopus praises the Lord". It was adorable and a fun little wiggle-release time during the day. :)
Glad you sent me an email. Lately, I am not good about going back and looking. Yesterday, I was frustrated a bit because I feel like I need to be doing better and I heard Sierra (5)playing and qouting her words to remember! So worth all the stuff I feel like I am not doing. We have to remember it is the spiritual part that will matter and that is what keeps me with the curriculum right now. I really am struggling to want to branch off on my own, but I am not ready to provide those spriritual connections like the Hazell's have.
I -love the handprint octopuses (is that the right plural?)Anyway, your posts make me anxious for kindergarten to get here!
I just found your blog! I love your ideas. The handprint octopus is so cute.
I will be back to read more!
