Today was busy. We had our homeschool co-op in the morning, a doctor's appointment, house cleaning and then bible study in the evening. We've had busier days but today I was just having a hard time appreciating all of the good in our life and instead focusing on all that we do not have.
So as Calista and I were driving home from the doctor's appointment and I was grumpy because we got lost, missed the appointment, had no cell phone to call and the list goes on and gets worse...... I was actively doing the 'not appreciating' thing.
From the back seat Calsita says, "Mommy, I have a story to tell you. Yesterday when Caroline and I were in our room she asked me if I liked her ballerina doll better than mine. I did really like hers better but I told her that no, I didn't. I told her I liked mine just as much because I remembered a verse I learned last year.
...be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrew 13:5
At that moment I sat up straight and started appreciating. It takes a child to remind me what really matters sometimes. I appreciate her so much.
