I learned a few lessons from making this one. I'm going to purchase some colored file folders instead so she wont spend so much time gluing the colored construction paper all over. It made it a little bulky and warped. But I suppose those are things that I just had to learn since I didn't read enough about making lapbooks beforehand. I also want to make a lapbook with samples of mini books, pockets and other shapes she can add so it isn't all pockets. That way she can have some other choices and add some variety.

Sun Lapbook
This was Caroline's first lapbook. As we studied the sun lessons over the past 2 weeks we collected her work with the plan of making the lapbook. I love how she has her pictures in the center and how much pride she took in putting this together. I added the captions under the photos but she wanted to make sure it was written just as she said it.

The most important thing though is that she totally enjoyed it, she learned and she is proud of herself.

Absolutely!! And the sun is such a fabulous lapbooking topic. :-)
My ten year old likes to look at her kindergarten lapbooks and laugh. Your child will too!
Hi! Wow I can't believe this is your first year homeschooling! It looks like you're doing an amazing job and your girls are learning and having fun. This is my second year and I am using the 1st grade curriculum. We did Kinder last year and loved it! Just looking at your pictures brings back such great memories of school last year. And I love the workbox idea. God bless you!
I came here through the MFW Blog Roll. You are so great with your documentation. I am also using Adv and K at the same time and am about to start (as soon as we get over the flu). I soon noticed that we also have another thing in common... I pulled my two daughters out of school last year, as well. We started our homeschool journey on November 1, 2008 with my 2nd grader and Pre-Ker with a two year old and a newborn underfoot. So now we have a 3rd grader and Kindergarten with an almost 3 year old and a 1 year old underfoot. It is wonderful to find common ground through blogging!! Sometimes it feels like you are the only one on the planet doing this. :)
By the way, love all your stuff and it is most useful to see how it all works. I think your lapbook is super cute. I find it to be a bit stressful, so I try to do individual projects for now. I know it is a learning process and my kids are gonna love it (one day). ;)
What a lovely lapbook! They sure make for great memories and wonderful treasures. We really enjoy looking over the ones we made during MFW-K (seems so long ago). :0)
