Day 168 - character qualities and tickets to fun

We have a few fun things we're doing right now that focus on character qualities.  We came up with  'Ticket To Fun' last summer and the girls really liked it. They can earn tickets for doing extra chores, learning activities, crafts etc.  The tickets go towards items in the Treasure Box , TV time, or for quarters if they really want to purchase something.  

The Character Qualities Books are little notebooks that they each keep.  When the timing is right we learn about a new character quality and add it to our list.  I have a list of 49 Christian character qualities I'm pulling from so it's easy to name them.  As they demonstrate them we make a big deal and then they get a sticker for their book and I write a description of what they did.  It does take time to stop, praise and describe but I stop to discipline and this is just as important.  It keeps me paying attention to the good stuff and they just beam when I read what I've written.   They have a few pages filled already and like going back to see what they've done.
